This holiday season, once again, MapTiler is proud to support Rozsviťme Česko (Light Up Czechia), a charitable project that inspires people across the country (and abroad) to do a good deed by lighting a star on the map to help those who need it most.
Last year, the initiative inspired tens of thousands of people across the country. Together, they lit up 37,015 lights and contributed 10,928,510 CZK to organizations providing help in difficult life situations. Homes, holiday cottages, cafés, kindergartens, and even cemeteries (as a tribute to loved ones no longer with us) were lit up, and each star became a symbol of hope.
This year, the tradition continues and extends beyond the Czech border.
How it works
From November 30 to December 31, anyone can join:
- Donate any amount to the campaign
- Choose a meaningful place on the map
- And watch it light up ✨
This year, Czechs living abroad can light up their stars anywhere in the world.
What MapTiler contributed
To help bring the idea to life, MapTiler donated a custom made interactive map to power the visual and contextual heart of the project. This year, we've also integrated MapTiler's address search to help find the locations for the stars.
Our team also provides technical support to ensure the map runs smoothly throughout the busy holiday season. With thousands of new lights appearing every day, stability and performance matter, and we’re proud that our mapping technology helps make the experience seamless and engaging.
