Make sure you and your users get the results they expect when searching for addresses, even when there are complications like having a “/” in the name. It might not seem like an issue to some, but a "/" can represent a whole range of different things, depending on which country you are searching:
- In New Zealand, it is “apartment/unit”, not “unit/apartment”
- In Italy, Austria, and Germany, it represents an additional building
- In Poland and France, it means the house is standing on two joined parcels
- In Ukraine and Russia, a slash in a house number usually means it is on an intersection
- In the USA, addresses with a slash (usually in the form of “5 1/2”) represent fractional parts of the property
We’ve added logic to cover these cases and more, so you get the most appropriate results for your searches!
