MapTiler Cloud Terms and Conditions

These MapTiler Cloud Terms (“Cloud Terms”), alongside with General Terms located at: (“General Terms”), which are incorporated by reference (these Cloud Terms and the General Terms are collectively referred to as “Terms”) govern the use of MapTiler Cloud (“Service”) which is a Product of MapTiler. Capitalized terms not defined here have the same meaning as defined in General Terms. In case of any conflict between the General Terms and this License Agreement, the License Agreement shall prevail.

  1. 1. Usage of the Service

    1. Right To Use. Subject to the Terms, MapTiler hereby grants you the right to access and use the Service.

    2. Subscription Plans. The Service is available in various subscription plans. The extent of the provided Service as well as other features of the Service depends on the chosen subscription plan. The limitations to the subscription plans are specified at It may be possible to obtain a custom plan - please contact

    3. API keys. The Service must be always used with your own unique API keys. The API keys are provided via the administration interface of the Service.

      1. Monitor use of your keys. You are responsible for all use of your API keys and the Service. Please monitor the usage and set appropriate limits and restrictions to protect your API keys.

      2. Report misuse. We may, at our own discretion, block a particular API key if you notify us of a potential misuse of such key.

      3. Do not misuse. The usage of someone else’s API key is not permitted.

    4. Permitted Use Only. You may use the Service solely:

      1. Development. To develop your online, desktop, or mobile applications and online services.

      2. Display to your end users. To display the Service content to end users via your applications and services.

      3. Print with commercial plan. To produce 1 printed map for an internal purpose (e.g. your company flyers) with a maximum size of A4 at 300 DPI or equivalent density in vector format, with a print circulation of up to 100 copies per month in total and only with an active subscription to a commercial plan of the Service as specified in section 1.2.

        To produce more maps, print more copies of maps, on demand for your customers, or offer print as part of your product or service, or get permission to redistribute the exported data, please contact us at

      4. Video with commercial plan. To produce any motion picture, video, or animation for internet channels (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) with up to 100 000 subscribers. MapTiler attribution is required, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

        For displaying maps in videos on an internet video channel with a higher number of subscribers, for stand-alone websites, or for TV / Movies you require a custom licensing agreement with MapTiler. Please contact us at

      5. Derivative work. To produce derivative vector datasets for non-commercial purposes or for OpenStreetMap. To produce derivative work for other purposes contact us at

      All other forms of use are prohibited.

    5. Explicitly Prohibited Use. To avoid any doubts, for example, you may not, and may not permit any third party to:

      1. No redistribution. Store, save or redistribute any map content from the Service, including from a cache or temporary storage, or by using a screenshot or other static image, instead of directly accessing via our APIs.

      2. No proxy. Proxy or cache the content on the server-side. Each individual end-user must do direct requests to our infrastructure and our global CDN. Results of requests can be stored in a temporary personal cache (browser cache, mobile app cache, etc.) for use by a single end-user.

      3. No bulk download. Do batch or excessive bulk download of map tiles and any other unusual form of infrastructure usage. Contact us at if you need offline maps.

      4. Your account is private. Sharing a password for a single account by multiple people. Contact us at for a multi-user account for companies.

      5. Use documented API. Usage of the Service in any other way than via documented APIs is prohibited.

  2. 2. Service Fee

    1. Fees. You agree to pay all fees owed for your use of the Service, as calculated by our records based on our subscription plans available at All charges are non-refundable unless expressly prohibited by applicable law.

    2. Taxes. Our listed fees do not include taxes. You agree to pay all sales/use, gross receipts, value-added, GST, personal property or other tax (including any interest and penalties) with respect to the transactions and payments under these Terms.

  3. 3. Term and termination

    1. Term. You may only use the Service until the termination or expiration of your prepaid subscription, whichever is earliest. A separate custom agreement may be agreed between MapTiler and you.

  4. 4. Service Availability

    1. Best effort availability. As part of our standard plans the Service availability is provided on a best effort basis. We do maximum to provide the highest Service availability - including high-availability infrastructure setup, backups, automated failover, etc.

    2. Incidents. Incidents to the Service availability are reported at and via Twitter @maptilerstatus.

    3. Enterprise SLA. Enterprise SLA. A service-level agreement (“SLA”) may be agreed between MapTiler and you separately as part of an annual custom contract.

  5. 5. Attribution Requirements

    1. Map Data. The Service incorporates and uses the MapTiler Map Data (“Data”). MapTiler has a strict requirement of attribution on the produced maps. By using the Service you agree to provide such attribution on the maps you display. It is required to indicate: “© MapTiler" with a link to, on all maps.

      1. OpenStreetMap attribution. For MapTiler Data based on OpenStreetMap sources, you must adhere to attribution requirements of OpenStreetMap. It is required to indicate “© OpenStreetMap contributors" with a link to

      2. Other attributions. Some map styles are created from commercial or other licensed data sources requiring attribution (e.g. detailed satellite or aerial layers, terrain data, local government data). MapTiler attribution with a proper link complies to such requirements.

        If any extra third-party attribution is required for hosted map tiles, it is mentioned directly at the tiles page and is automatically included in our sample map viewers.

    2. Exceptions. Exceptions to the MapTiler attribution requirement can be granted commercially on a case-by-case basis in a written form by MapTiler. For map styles which use OpenStreetMap sources, a MapTiler attribution exception may be granted, but the OpenStreetMap attribution must remain.

    3. Attribution Location. For a browsable electronic map based on the Data, the attribution should appear in the corner of the map.

      For printed maps and images a similar attribution as for Browsable Electronic Maps should be made in a clearly visible textual description near the map, in the same fashion as if you cite a photograph.

      For videos, an exception may be granted for an additional fee to show attributions in the end-credits.

    4. Attribution visibility. The attribution must be always visible and readable on any screen or medium. On small screens (mobile phones) the attribution may be available behind a contextual popup window displaying only the attribution itself - openable with one click/tap from a map.
