Search results for geographic features and company offices are now significantly more accurate. This update marks the first phase of a broader initiative to deliver higher-quality results through a more robust and trustworthy POI database.

With this release, you get:

  • Search consistency: Reliable results for very small and very large landforms
  • Data clarity: Refined handling of landuse features
  • POI discovery: Increased visibility of business offices

These enhancements are immediately available: no code changes required.

Intuitive search for natural and landuse features

Natural landforms such as forests, mountains, and distinct landuse areas like cemeteries or industrial zones now have more relevant search results. By resolving mapping ambiguities and eliminating duplicate entries (e.g., multiple listings for a single cemetery), we ensure users see only the most relevant features, free of noise.

Enhanced discoverability of businesses and offices

The number of company offices and specialized workplaces like IT centers or airline hubs has been greatly increased. This massive expansion of the POI index enhances the usability for many applications, from logistics to partner locators.

  • Expanded reach: Over 3.8 million new features added.
  • Better discoverability: Higher focus on company offices.
  • Improved autocomplete: It now also suggests business locations.

Accurate geographic context for cross-border features

Large cross-border features like the Alps or the Carpathian Mountains are now labelled in a way that ignores international boundaries. This provides users with a truer representation of their actual scale and global location.
